Functional Pilates (50-minute class via ZOOM)

What we practise through matwork Pilates like spinal articulation and controlled shoulder blade movement are but a few examples of the functional movements we do every day! Imagine rolling down to pick up your grocery shopping bags and carrying them home – the exact way you can apply spinal articulation and shoulder stabilisation.

With an exercise mat and a flexband (or a hand towel), the session will leave you feeling taller, stronger and moving with more control with your every day activities. This is exceptionally useful for individuals who desire to move more efficiently and recognising the muscle activation for your every day movement.

Working from home has perhaps created a more sedentary lifestyle for most of us this year. Over time, joint motions could become more restricted with limited movement. The first few effects you would feel could be shoulder or lower back pain as muscles on the back of our bodies responsible for holding us up tall are less activated.

That is where a full body Pilates workout promoting range of motion in all your joints and helps to maintain or retrieve proper movement of your body could be more functional than you can imagine.

We are not just catching on the buzzword “functional training”, Pilates is indeed functional. This class is suitable for any individual with or without Pilates experience.
